Today marks the opening of the 32nd Olympic Games of the modern era. The first Olympiad took place in Olympia, Greece in 776. These “games” consisted of one event, the stade (aka stadion). It is sprint believed to be about 192 meters long. The closest modern event is the 200 meter sprint, so today, we will be doing a “track and field” workout in increments of 200 meters and adding burpees at the end of each run.

  • 200 m run with 8 burpees at the finish
  • 400 m run with 6 burpees at the finish
  • 600 m run with 4 burpees at the finish
  • 800 m run with 2 burpees at the finish
  • 600 m run with 4 burpees at the finish
  • 400 m run with 6 burpees at the finish
  • 192 m run with 8 burpees at the finish; all and the winner gets the gold
  • Rounded Total 3.2 km (1.98 miles) and 38 burpees each (190 total)

  • Convergence on the 31st

  • Safe travels back to NC for Diamond Dave and his family

  • There was brief discussion on if the PAX in attendance could do burpees for Poppy and them count double but that discussion didn’t go far
  • Bartman was not the fastest participant out there today; Poppy kept up with him and didn’t appear to be trying
  • Diamond Dave commented that visitors should count as double credit for the burpess…just sayin
  • QSource on “Group” Discussion:
    • We tried to answer a couple of questions about gated communities: 1) Are they communities or organizations, 2) why live one? Unfortunately there weren’t enough participants to yield an intelligent discussion (1 PAX from out of town, 2 PAX that don’t live in a gated community, 1 PAX that lives in a community, but doesn’t like gates)
    • Are we a team or an organization?
    • Parting deep thought provoking, self analyzing question to ponder for the week ahead: “Are we living on mission?”
  • Lexicon of the Day – Mission: course of action taken to achieve an ultimate or articulated purpose
  • Exicon of the Day – Rosalita: Start on your 6 and raise your legs to 90 degrees, 1 rep: separate towards the ground and return to center and maintain 90 degrees
  • Bible Verse of the Day – Ecclesiastes 4:9-12: “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
