- Extended warm-up this AM was a crowd pleaser
- Welcome back to T-rex who pulled up in his Bluffton patrol car but didn’t miss a beat during the workout
- Swanson was full of Mumblechatter until mid way through the warm-up
- YHC loves when merlot is brought to a workout, unfortunately it was almost me today
- Joker to Tool “slow down I’m not an iron man!”
It seems every few weeks in the COT we have a mention of someone we know or know of that has taken their own life leaving a family grieving with unanswered questions. This past weekend, it was a 13 yo boy. A middle school student. A friend of many, great student, and athlete. Many of us that gather in the mornings have children close to this age. It really hit me hard hearing the news earlier this week with my oldest starting middle school. Apparently the suicide had something to do with bullying (I’m not sure exact details) but bullying is something that is completely preventable. Are kids going to be mean to each other? Sure. Are they going to pick on each other? most likely. But when it gets to the point of another child thinking the only way out is taking his/her own life, something has to change. Last night my M and I had a talk with both of our girls (without giving too many details), but we stressed the importance of looking out for those that may be struggling, those that may slip into the corners of the room, those that get left out when others are playing games, or choosing teams, or eating alone. Teaching our children to walk up to those kids, talk to them, include them, stand up for them when they are being picked on is our duty as parents. It’s up to us to put an end to what seems to be a worsening epidemic of bullying. Stop making excuses for your kids. If your kid is a bully, It’s your responsibility to correct it. If any of you ever see my kids treating someone inappropriately you have my permission to correct the situation immediately. In that same sense, I will do the same to yours. Kids aren’t just being kids when it leads to someone taking their own life. Sorry for the rant…
Great work this morning gents
Gambit out!
