Introducing “The Squid”

PAX: Joker, Yo-Yo Ma, Swanson, Chumbucket, Big Easy (Respect), Ray, Compost, Mad Dog, Diapers, Peaches, Halfback, Urkel (QIC)

Welcome: This workout was copied from Squid, if it sucks, blame him!

Disclaimer: Push yourself, don’t hurt yourself!

Warm Up:

  • Mosey to the corner of Bridge and Pritchard
  • SSH IC x 20
  • Mosey to the corner of Bridge and Boundary
  • TTT IC x 15
  • Mosey to the Shrimp Boat Park

The Thang: – The Squid

  • PAX line up shoulder to shoulder on the side of the play ground. As the group does the called exercise continuously, men mount the pull up bar, two at a time for the following:
  • PAX: Merkins
  • Bar: Commando Pull-Ups (both hands on one bar, front to back; alternated head to left, head to right) x 10 (or max out)
  • Once everyone has gone, move to the street for a half lap around the block: ALL YOU GOT
  • PAX: Starbursts
  • Bar: Knees to Chest x 10
  • 1/2 lap: mid speed
  • PAX: Plank Jacks
  • Bar: Commando Pull-Ups
  • 1/2 lap AYG
  • PAX: LBCs
  • Bar: Knees to Chest
  • 1/2 lap mid speed
  • PAX: Merkins
  • Bar: Commando Pull-Ups
  • 1/2 lap AYG
  • PAX: Starburst
  • Bar: Knees to Chest
  • 1/2 lap mid speed
  • 6 Burpees OYO for each of the 6 laps completed
  • Walk back to the road
  • Line up
  • Indian Run back to the flag


  • Flutters IC x 25
  • Box Cutters IC x 10 reverse direction x 10
  • Airhumpers IC x 20
  • Superman to time




  • Convergence May 26 0630 Coligny

  • When Squid first did this workout it was terrible, and I loved it. I thought it needed a name like we have named the Dab. I have spent 4 months pondering what to call it. I narrowed it down to “the Liberty Bell” and “the Squid.” I felt that it might be cumbersome over time to explain the origin story of the “the Liberty Bell.” I also decided to name the 1/2 block “Silkie Square.”
  • It was great to be joined by 2 visitors from the Charlotte area
  • This was supposed to happen a few Saturdays ago, but a lack of PAX delayed it.
  • It is good to see numbers moving up again, but there is no reason to back down. Keep EHing! We all know men who would be better if they made the choice to post.
  • I bought my F3 silkies specifically to do this workout again. I was planning to debut them at this workout on the aforementioned Saturday Q, but wore them to #theYachtClub last Saturday. I can see why Squid likes them so much!
  • It is always a pleasure to lead this group!
